Dermatological disorders and dermatology-specific quality of life among secondary students in public and private schools in Kwara state, Nigeria

Introduction: Skin problems are very common and often affect people in visible places leading to significant physical psychological distress. Adolescents go through physiologic changes their body during puberty with associated psychosocial changes. Having live skin disorders these years can have life-long impact. This study aimed describe the spectrum of adolescents attending secondary schools Kwara state evaluate dermatology-specific quality life those affected by disorders.
 Objective: To among impact on affected.
 Methods: was a descriptive cross-sectional study. We examined 1000 students from 16 public private Ilorin, state. Participant selection done using multi- staged stratified random sampling method. The evaluated Children’s Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI) determine life. Data obtained analyzed SPSS version 20 presented tables figures.
 Results: prevalence disease population 68.4%. most order decreasing frequency were: acne, pityriasisversicolor, dermatophytoses (Including tinea capits, corporis, pedis, unguium cruris), pityriasis capitis traction alopecia. About three- quarters reported an effect frequent Qol attributed symptoms feelings elicited disease.
 Discussion: found high them reporting resulting problem however this mostly mild effect.
